About

Melissa Frueh’s work is a lifelong study of plants and people. From the midwestern plains, to alpine peaks, and rolling hills between- varying landscapes and individual plant species been an evergreen source of inspiration behind her creations.

Something about the relationship between people and the land/agriculture- plants as a entry point into scientific exploration

Something about creating illustrations through a scientific lens (recreating scientific illustrations) from bouquets and still life figures as well as photographs to create depictions with bold colors, and fine details

Melissa is a self-taught creator who works with colored pencil and ink mediums. She has spent the past 20 years developing her fine art skills and mastering her tools, but only recently adopted the ‘artist’ title.

Born and raised in the Chicago metro area, she is back home after spending a decade in the Rocky Mountains where she deepened her relationship with the wild.
